Meet Our Makers: Redgate Farm

Some of our best local produce comes from just five minutes down the road. Redgate Farm, near Seaham, has long been relied on by poultry businesses and food lovers across the Hunter.
With seven generations of farming behind it, the farm is run by the Scott family, and today three sisters are carrying it forward, bringing fresh energy and new ideas while keeping what has always made Redgate special.
Redgate is an artisanal breeder, with its own signature Black Silkie chickens. It's also one of the few businesses that will process very small numbers of birds, a real help to small-scale local growers.
More recently the team has introduced free-range chicken boxes, with whole birds and portions delivered within a couple of hours of processing. Redgate Farm also gives back, supporting local charities and social enterprises with products, resources and practical help.
It doesn't get much more local than this. You'll find Redgate Farm chicken in our fridge at Woodville. It's fresh, local and raised just five minutes from the store.
